soaring in the air.
1st stop: Dubai(i penned my thoughts on paper earlier while in changi airport and here i am in dubai's airport typing this..)
the time now is 23:21. I am sitting at one of the seats outside the boarding gates. it is the first time i am flying solo, quite literally. immense fear.. i wonder what lies ahead of me.. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be no flight delays, that i will find my way to the thalys train to rotterdam easily (i have to transfer two trains)
after my io psy paper, szewei and ann spent the afternoon with me.. such lovely girls :) haven't hung out with them for so long, this term gave me opportunity to recall how it felt in year 1
mum and aunt brought me to buy wasabi peanuts for snacks just in case i feel hungry any time during the trip. mum also got me vit c and ginger medicine for nausea on the train. i miss home already
i had a wonderful send-off at changi airport just now by dear friends: Grace, Yuan Tian, Mayas, Vi, Ashwin and Imran. i greatly appreciate that they came down to celebrate my birthday as well~ :) thanks grace and yuan tian for initiating the event :) love you gals.. thanks guys for the presents
gosh. it's such a weird, indescribable feeling flying alone; it's a fresh, out-of-my-comfort-zone experience, just right after i hit the 21-years-old mark. i suppose i will emerge from this experience much stronger, braver - albeit unnerving right now.
i wonder how cold it will be in paris and rotterdam
i will miss skip beat! :( begun loving this jap anime and it makes me laugh.. it's showing on okto channel. and who's line is it anyway, mind your language, amazing race, survivor - ahhh! i'll miss them all!!
first time i'm flying emirates. will let you know how it goes later. i'm sitting here silently, i watch thse strangers stroll by me - and indeed, there are a significant number of caucasian travellers. fourteen more minutes to boarding time.
in the meanwhile, let me tell you a story, which was narrated to me by my aunt. this afternoon, my mother was outside tampines mall, where she was approaching by an NTU student to fill in a questionnaire. my mum decided to fill it in, since the girl will earn seven bucks from a completed form.. and after that, my mum asked if she's heard of AIESEC in her university. the girl replied 'no', and my mum told her to find out more about this student-run organization which builds youth leadership potential. (my mum thinks she's a confident girl) :)
i couldn't believe my ears when i heard it.. first time hearing my mum promoting AIESEC to a stranger.. haha. didn't expect her to become an ambassador of AIESEC, but you really have to hand it to her for her efforts!
but one thing's for sure: i can't thank my mum enough for being so supportive of me in whatever i do, being there for me in my darkest hours and my joyous moments. such cuteness :) i wish you could see my grin.
my europe escapade starts now! dubai, i'm coming! (11.55pm)
----
i'm sitting in dubai's airport now. there's still forty-five minutes to go before boarding my connecting flight.
i couldn't catch forty-winks on the plane, it was tough trying to fall asleep so i watched mamma mia!, the little mermaid and a little bit of everything. then i listened to more music before dozing off for an hour or so.
will try to sleep more on the next flight.
