modem at home has been spoilt for well over a week now. i've been getting access to the internet while at work..
sometimes it's good to get away from the net. i found myself getting glued to the telly again. haha. and watching stuff like lost, desperate housewives, hong kong dramas. and all this while i was kinda frustrated with myself for not being able to sit down and enjoy reading a book. my attention span has dwindled.. at least i couldn't concentrate on a book till the end.
amazingly i picked up
Long Day's Journey into Night ( i missed reading this..) and read it to the end. made me recall all the lit stuff i studied and the themes recurring throughout the book. reminded me of the apt quotations from poems the family used to describe their own feelings, highlighting the fact they couldn't put into their own words their thoughts thereby having to borrow expressions from poems. Jamie's quotations are hauntingly beautiful:
"Look in my face; my name is Might-have-been;
I am also called No-more, Too-late, Farewell"
Makes me wanna read more poems. memories of annotating poems and analyzing them in class with ms. k. doing lit presentations. discussions. my love for reading has been revived! :)
oops. it's tough not having internet at home. there was this intern emailing me throughout the night, trying to find out more info about the visa into singapore and all and i didn't reply promptly.. and
it's great to have my new modem delivered this noon. i'll be able to do my work at night too.
i'm holding on to a dream that's hanging thinly on a thread. let me wake from the dream before the string snaps.
