i signed up for this mentoring project organized by true hearts connection via nvpc website. i was notified i've been shortlisted, hope i get selected. sounds extremely interesting. it's being a mentor, a friend to out-of-school youths. i like the idea that these out-of-school youths opted to join this programme themselves. it already indicates a willingness to improve themselves. it's easier to help people who are ready to make the first step to self-improvement, it's like a barrier that's lifted. this project's going to last for a year, once weekly. volunteers are supposed to receive training for conducting decision analysis with the mentee and to also provide career guidance. sounds fun.

quite a number of people commented i seem to like volunteering. yes, because it's the closest experience i can get to social work. i mean, social work is also different from volunteering in it's own right. basically it's about interaction and helping others, and i decided it's really beneficial since volunteering gives a sense of fulfilment and a chance to empathize with others. since i want to read social work or sociology in uni, involving myself in volunteer work enables me to interact with others, especially youth. particularly youth work. just hope i can get into uni.
